Amazon Gold Box
B2C – Business to Consumer Online Shopping.
Before I convince my visitors that online shopping at Amazon.com saves time and money, let us look at online shopping and how it came about.
It all began with the Web Server and a Browser that allowed a person to access the web pages on a web server. Tim Berners-Lee created the first World Wide Web server and browser in 1990 It became available for global commercial use in 1991. Nothing much happened till 1994, when other advances took place, giving us the ability to do online banking and ordering a PIZZA online from the first online pizza shop by Pizza Hut.
During that same year, Netscape introduced the break through SSL encryption of data transferred online, without which secure online shopping as we experience to-day would be impossible.
It was also in the year 1994 that ‘INTERSHOP’ a German company, introduced the first online shopping system. In 1995 Amazon launched its online shopping site, and in 1996 eBay appeared. That was the beginning of B2C – Business to Consumer Online Shopping, and the rest is history.
Let us be honest and admit that shopping the traditional way is no fun any more.
Starting with the long lines of irate shoppers, disgruntled cashiers, and simply having to part with your cold hard cash, it can be really exhausting. The most tiresome part being, not being able to always find what you want.
For those have been shopping online for some time, the web has become much more than just a viral mall. To them is a playground, where the smart and savvy bargain hunters make the most out of every dollar they spend. We are at the fag end of 2011 seeing more sites than ever before pandering to the online shopper. There are hundreds of sites that promote goods sold by Amazon.com alone, only because at Amazon you get value for money with prices that are definitely the lowest anyone can find.
